Tell us a little about your company. How long have you been in business?
We have been in business since June 2001. Peter has been a DJ since 1987.
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Our old tagline used to be “Professional Services, Amateur Prices” and although we no
longer use that we feel it still holds true. We don’t charge extra for things that other companies
How extensive is your music library? What genres do you cover?
Our entire library consists of 120,000 songs and 20,000 Videos. All fully licensed by the
Connect Music License (Formally AVLA). We have basically everything from 1950 to today. We
have to stay current because we are one of the larger School Dance DJs in HRM. Also on a side
note, the Bird Dance has been removed entirely from our library and we cannot play no matter
Do you also act as the emcee for the wedding and make all the announcements?
We always preform “Light” MC duties for free. This includes announcing events that start
from the first dance til the end of the night. Sometimes we do full MC duties from our DJ area
from the start of the night but since we do not know people in the room it’s not as personal as
a friend or a family member so we often encourage the couples to find someone. We also help
Coach the MC if they are uncomfortable talking in big crowds.
What do you do to get the crowd dancing?
It’s always been about the music. We let the music do its job. We don’t do any cheesy
participation style dances to try and attempt to get the crowd up. When they are ready to
dance they will dance.
Will you take requests from the guests?
We always do but of course it all depends on the DJ discretion. If the song is going to kill the
dance floor or not a type of music the Bride would like then we do not play or play at a different point of the night.
Can couples give you a “Do Not Play” list of songs they don’t want played?
Always. There is a section on the Wedding Planner for Do Not Play songs. We also do not play even if someone comes up and tries to tell us the Bride or Groom said it was ok to play. The only one who can permit us to play those songs is the Bride or Groom.
How far in advance should a couple book your services?
2017 was almost fully booked for Saturdays in December 2016. If it’s an off-peak time of
year (Jan to June) then a month or two is fine. For Peak Season I often recommend booking as
soon as possible as most couples book a year out. If it’s a Friday or Sunday those days do not fill
up as fast.
Do you offer other services such as video screens, lighting etc.?
We can do a small screen for Slideshows. Larger screens for Video Dances or Slideshows.
We offer cheap ($25) Projector rentals. Free sound hookup for Slideshows. Free use of
Microphone (Mostly Wireless). Full Room uplighting at a fixed price (We do not charge per
light). We can also do Ceremony music for an extra fee.
"Both my wife and I had hired Peter for work events in the past, ranging anywhere between 100 - 2000 people, and we have known for a long time that he has a talent for turning bland corporate events into raging parties. So Naturally when we got engaged, we knew right away that we wanted Peter to do our wedding. He went out of his way to rearrange his schedule and
accommodate us and we were thrilled that he was able to do it. We couldn't be happier with his performance. It's been 3 days since our wedding and our friends still have sore feet. People that don't usually like dancing have been telling us it's the best wedding they've ever been to. Our 60's and 70's aged parents couldn't be dragged off the dance floor. We had a few weird ideas that we wanted incorporated into our dance and Peter worked them into his performance perfectly. His knowledge of so many types of music, and his creativity mixing them together so well is only surpassed by how well he can read the crowd and keep the dance floor packed. He has a top notch sound system and a bunch of options for lighting/lasers/fog that can turn almost any sized room into a legitimate club experience at an amazing price point. We'll definitely be calling Peter again the next time we find an excuse to have a large event. Although he can give you tasteful and classy background music for a toned down ceremony, Peter's talents are best used by somebody who needs to make absolutely sure that their wedding event delivers in a big way with a packed dance floor and amazing music. Be warned; your guests will end up naked in the pool. Your cousin's husband will end up grinding with your mom. Glassware will get broken and people will sweat."
"My husband and I hired Nitelfe DJ Services to play for our wedding and they TOTALLY
NAILED IT. I received numerous compliments during the reception and afterwards about how
awesome the DJ was. Not only did he bring the party, but he kept it bumping until last call.
People probably could have kept dancing well into the morning! Leading up to the day he was
professional and organized. During set up he was super accommodating about last minute
changes. He wasn't even phased that we randomly stopped his set to have a band play a couple songs, was cool with requests, and just worked around us and kept it going. I can't recommend
