Tell us a little about yourself.
In all aspects of my day to day, I can be a rather complicated person. However when it comes to all things photography, and shooting weddings; I am the easiest person to get to know and understand. I love EVERYTHING about weddings. I am a little wedding obsessed. But when I'm not shooting weddings, or other clients, I am spending my days with my 2 daughters, ( 4 and 2). Baking or cooking, crocheting or spending time with family and friends.
What inspired you to begin wedding photography?
12 years ago a friend of mine was getting married. I had portrait photography training and experience, but not weddings. However she loved my style and asked if I would take some pictures for her. I was honored. NERVOUS!! but so excited. I wasn't her hired photographer, I worked sorta in the background or when the other photographer was off shooting something/someone else. .. or you may have caught me behind a bush sneaking some shots… but after that day looking at the shots I got, I was hooked. I tried a few smaller weddings, for people I didn’t know, and very quickly knew it was my photography calling!!
How long have you been in business?
I first registered my Business in 2005 and have been every year since!!!!
Do you do Photography for a living?
My first ‘job’ is a MOM!! I stay home with my little munchkins full time. But when the time allows, photography is my job!!!! I wouldn’t have it any other way
Describe your photography style.
If you had of asked me this question a year ago, I wouldn’t have been able to give you a direct answer, as I didn’t really have one. I worked at a lot of different styles and approaches, but now I can say. I am a natural light photographer with a journalistic feel. Very real, and in the moment. I love to work with the vibe of the couple among their family and friends! I allow myself to get caught up in the emotion of the event, I find this helps me capture the true meaning of their love!
Do you have an assistant on the wedding day? If so, why?
I typically work alone. I have worked with others on past Weddings. Unless it’s a request from the couple I do not need an assistant.
How important is Photoshop in your final images?
Photoshop is a lot of fun, I am completely self taught when it comes to Photoshop and learning new tricks and tips everyday. But with my new found style I don’t really need to use it much. But I do work on each image I give to a client in Photoshop.
Where would be your dream destination to photograph?
Wow! this is a loaded question, I haven’t really put much thought into that however I would love the chance to shoot a wedding in New Zealand, England , Paris. The architecture and natural lighting and landscape of these areas would make my creative mind very happy.
Do you offer customizable packages?
I sure do! I have yet to have any two weddings a like. I have preset packages that have been most popular. But I always give my clients the options to build a package to their day, and to their needs!
How much should I budget for my photography package?
Your Wedding Day is the biggest day of your life. You spend 6 months or more planning your perfect day. You want everything captured. I recommend 6 to 8 hours at least, which would put your budget in the $1300-$1900 range. but again there is that option to customize!
