Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Amanda, After growing up in Nova Scotia on our family farm, I left to travel the world and attend university. Little did I know, My love of color, nature andthe ephemeralness of flowers brought me back to the Annapolis Valley where I began harvesting flowers from my mother's garden. It has grown to have over 150 types of flowers, grasses and foliage which we harvest from May until November. Wayne and I married in 2015, planning our weddingaround peony and strawberry season.
How long have you been in business?
Humble Burdock Farms has been in business for over six years; first starting out with growing and designing fresh flower bouquets for the farmers market. For the past four years, we have utilized our love of designing flowers to serveevents and wedding s. We feel so lucky to be apart of our couples special day!!
How would you describe your design style?
I feel privileged to be able to express our brides vision through flowers, which evolves to fit their sense of style. My own style tends toward whimsical, colorful, and natural. You can find me on a design day; cruising around the farm in the golf cart, looking for that perfect element to make an arrangement beautiful.
Do you offer delivery, setup & tear down services?
We offer full wedding services as an option, but it is not a requirement.
Do you have a minimum floral budget?
No, we pride ourselves on working with every size of wedding, But I think most brides hit a road block when planning their wedding flowers. How much does it cost to plan for flowers? It can be a bit of a surprise when you get your flower quote if you are not prepared for it. An average wedding can easily cost 1500- 2500.00 Depending on what you are looking for.
Can you give recommendations to help me maximize my floral budget?
There are a few ways to work with your budget, but it depends on the venue and style. Having a lot of guests, means you may want to do a few larger statement pieces instead of florals on the reception tables. An intimate occasion may require more lush arrangements to dress up the space. We like to recommend multi-purposing- moving pew markers into the reception area, or laying down bridesmaids bouquets to decorate the head table, etc. Another option we like to offer is DIY loose flowers, which is a popular choice for weddings, especially with making your own reception pieces. Appointing help within your friends and family to do set up and take down can save on delivery and set up costs.
Are you able to help me preserve my flowers after the wedding?
We do dry flowers, but some flowers that are perfect for a wedding bouquet may not be for drying. We can offer expert advice for those who want to preserve their bouquet.
